ABOUT OUR NEWSLETTER

Trilobite Tales is the official publication of the Western Interior Paleontological Society (WIPS).  The newsletter is published nine months a year from September to May, with occasional special editions during the summer months. A subscription to Trilobite Tales is included with membership in WIPS. Each 13- to 20-page issue typically includes information and announcements about Society programs and activities, such as:

- Calendar of earth science-related events in the Denver area and beyond
- Field trip schedule and reports
- Feature articles by Society members and other authors
- Book and/or literature reviews
- Kids' Quarry column for our younger members

Members - Consider an Electronic Subscription to Trilobite Tales

Save paper and help us reduce mailing costs by opting to receive your newsletter electronically. Each month, Trilobite Tales is posted in the Members Only area -- usually about a week earlier than the printed version is available by mail. E-newsletter subscribers receive a notice from the Editor when the current month's edition is posted. To change your subscription from paper to electronic, see the Membership Chair at the back table at any monthly meeting.

EARTH SCIENCE EVENTS CALENDAR

The Western Interior Paleontological Society provides free calendar listings of upcoing events and educational opportunities in the earth sciences in its newsletter and on this website as a service to the public and to the scientific community.  To submit items for our Web and newsletter listings, please send text (not formatted) to the Newsletter Editor.

Calendar Listing Guidelines - Newsletter & Online

A limit of 200 words is suggested for the description of the event, exclusive of date, times and contact information.  Listings may be edited.  No graphics will be included in the online listing.  Graphics may be included in the newsletter listing as space permits. To submit a graphic for print, please include it as a separate file (not embedded in a word processing document).  File formats accepted for print include jpg (minimum 150 dpi), tiff, bitmap or eps.

SUBMITTING ARTICLES

WIPS members are encouraged to submit news items, field trip reports, book and literature reviews, and articles for publication. Articles on paleontological topics are also accepted from non-member authors based on content and space available.  Suggested feature article length is 1000 to 2500 words with five to ten images/figures.

Paleontology of Colorado Article Series

Trilobites Tales is seeking articles focusing on the paleontology of our state.  Previous articles in the series have included the paleontology/dinosaurs of Cañon City, and the paleontology of the Minturn Formation.
